Overview

Combining vision-based tactile sensing and palm pressure sensing to detect diverse contact information and support precise manipulation.

01
Multiple Tactile Sensing Technologies
Multiple tactile sensing using a vision-based tactile sensor and palm pressure sensor

The Vision-based Tactile Sensor at the fingertip detects contact with objects through image-based sensing and converts the contact data into visual information for the user.

Separately, the pressure sensor in the palm detects contact at the palm. Each sensing technology provides its own contact information during grasping and manipulation.

What is a Vision-based Tactile Sensor?

A Vision-based Tactile Sensor detects physical contact as an image, not as a simple pressure value.

Its sensing surface is made of a soft elastomer that deforms according to the shape of the contact area when an object touches the sensor. An internal camera and illumination system capture this deformation, so the contact between the object and the sensor is visualized as a tactile image.

Rich Contact Information
Captures detailed contact patterns, deformation, and subtle motion during physical interaction.
Vision-Ready Tactile Data
Turns physical contact into rich visual data that can be used with vision and learning algorithms.
See the Contact, Not Just the Force
Captures the shape, location, and spatial distribution of fingertip contact, providing richer information than conventional force and contact measurements.
02
Versatile Control & Connectivity
Flexible system integration through multiple control modes and enhanced communication protocols

Supports multiple control modes, including current, position, and stiffness control. Modbus communication enables enhanced integration with a wide range of robotic and automation systems used in industrial and manufacturing environments.

Current Control
Direct torque-level actuation for fine, force-sensitive manipulation.
Position Control
Precise joint-angle positioning for repeatable, predictable motion.
Stiffness Control
Adjustable joint stiffness for firm holds or safe, impact-absorbing control.
03
Robust & Precise Control
Stable and precise control through friction and temperature compensation algorithms

Friction and temperature compensation algorithms minimize potential control errors caused by friction and temperature variations, enabling stable and precise hand control across diverse operating environments.

Anatomical Finger & Palm Design

Fingers follow the enveloping configuration of the human hand, naturally distributing contact forces for stable grasping across a range of object shapes and sizes.

The palm carries that same anatomical thinking further with a three-dimensional, contoured surface rather than a flat mechanical plane.

Aluminum Body with Integrated Heatsinks

Integrated heatsink structures on the upper fingers manage the heat generated during high-load operation, seamlessly integrated into the finger structure.

The full aluminum body delivers the rigidity, precision, and durability needed for sustained use, with organic curves inspired by human skeletal and muscular forms.
